The Broadcasting, Electronic, Media Allied Workers Union (Bemawu) and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) are planning a protected strike that could threaten the coverage of the ANC elective conference. The reason for the planned action is the announcement that SABC employees will not receive an increase for the current financial year ending in March next year. This follows a R3.9-million payment to the five members of the interim board for their six months in office according to the unions.
